- Led by Uruguayan birding expert Rafael "Rafa" Tosi. Fun, friendly guide who speaks impeccable English.
- Low key and great birding - Uruguay lends itself to great birding, lots of birds in the open, yet a moderate pace. The country is safe, gorgeous, and friendly. You will ask yourself - Why isn't everyone birding Uruguay?
- Wine tasting - We will visit several wineries, and try a variety of Uruguay's wines there and while on tour. Tannat is the Uruguayan specialty grape.
- Uruguay is South America's best kept secret - and a country without drama. Infrastructure works, politically stable, very safe. It is a pleasure to visit.
- We will bird the Pampas, marshes, lakes, seashore and forest. Mostly flat and easy walking.
- Birds of interest include various "capuchino" seedeaters like the Chestnut, Marsh, and Dark-throated seedeaters. Gorgeous Scarlet-headed Blackbirds along with the weird Curve-billed and Straight-billed reedhaunters both unusual "ovenbirds" of the southern marshes. Rare Saffron-cowled Blackbirds with Black-and-white Monjitas, as well as the two Marshbirds, gorgeous studies of yellow and brown. Many colorful duck species, Greater Rhea, wintering shorebirds including possibility of finding Buff-breasted Sandpipers and Upland Sandpipers in the non-breeding time. Chance of Olrog's Gull, as well as a wide variety of southern cone specialties - Southern Screamer, Nancunda Nighthawk, lots and lots of Fork-tailed Flycatchers. All this with great food, and superb wine.
